Sue participates in various consultation groups in Chicago, including the OCD Midwest Consultation Group. She is also a part of the Open Path Psychotherapy Collective and can accept patients through this discounted service.

Generally, Sue uses cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and mindfulness techniques to create lasting change. Drawing on her training and years of experience she will help you assess your particular situation and create an effective and understandable treatment plan. Becoming aware of thought processes and learning to change nonproductive thinking patterns is an important part of the therapy. It is also common to change thoughts and feelings by first changing the behavior.  In treating anxiety disorders, including OCD, Sue has trained in multiple settings, including The Behavioral TherapyTraining Institute with IOCDF in using CBT/ERP (Exposure Response Prevention).

Sue's goal is to use the most appropriate, research based counseling approaches based upon the presenting concern, the needs of the client and therapeutic opportunities and limitations.  Effective counseling is based upon ongoing clarity of expectations and shared responsibility.

Special certfications: Sue is BTTI Certified. BTTI is the only certification for OCD treatment providers. Learn more about BTTI here: https://iocdf.org/professionals/training-institute/btti/
